In many respects the online advertising industry is as healthy as it has ever been. Innovative new technologies promise levels of interaction and customization beyond anything hoped for just a few years ago.

At the same time, there is growing concern and awareness among businesses, consumers and lawmakers that abuses of some of these new technologies could pose a risk to consumer privacy. Numerous legislative actions loom on the horizon that threaten even the most basic elements of the online marketplace.

Our Mission:

The DPF has positioned itself at the center of this debate. We are dedicated to helping members understand the issues surrounding consumer privacy, public policy and emerging technologies.

Towards this end, the DPF's goals are to:

  • Share information within the coalition to ensure a cohesive and effective understanding of existing and emerging threats;
  • Inform members of regulatory developments at the federal, state, and international levels;
  • Educate members of legitimate online data collection practices and responsible online business models; and
  • Promote the responsible use of data and the long-term growth and viability of the Internet as a vibrant communications channel.
